We were surprised to see many of the top stories of 2022 were about businesses bought or sold in 2022.
Rockford was purchased by Patrick Industries, Hybrid Audio was sold to Soundz, and Sundown was acquired by Systematic Audio (sister company to Scottie’s Johnson’s XS Power). Though not in the actual top ten stories, but close behind, were stories on AAMP Global acquiring AudioControl and Meyer Distributing acquiring P&E Distributors.
There were few stories on products in the top 10 this year, save for the number one story of the year, “Top 5 Amplifiers Year to Date,” which received more than 16,000 clicks, one of our top stories of all time.
You can analyze the trends this year for yourself in the top stories as shown here:

One of the under covered stories is the fact that rep firms are closing and NOT being sold. As per your recent story out of the the mid-Atlantic/metro NY area. There are few to none, young people coming up in the ranks to fill this void and that is sad. I have had many of my customers tell me that I can’t retire because there is no one coming up behind me who knows what they are talking about. I wish it was different but it is not. FYI, I have no plans on retiring anytime soon. I’ll probably die doing what I love to do.
