Amazon was responsible for almost 50 percent of all online sales the week ending December 17, increasing its market share by three percent.
According to Slice Intelligence, Best Buy took the second place slot, followed by Walmart and Apple.
Specifically, 46 percent of last week’s online spending was with Amazon.com. But Apple orders had the highest average price tag at $350, which exceeded Best Buy’s average purchase price of $166.
Electronics was the top category for online sales last week, accounting for 21 percent of online sales heading into the holidays.
Other data from Slice shows that shipping speeds improved this holiday. The average package arrived in just three days compared to five days in 2015. Last week’s speed was even faster, with packages arriving in only 2.5 days–much quicker than the 5.5 days during the same time last year.
