Boyo will introduce in the next 30 days a wireless backup camera that syncs to your iPhone or Android phone.
The camera installs on the license plate holder and is wired to ignition, ground and reverse trigger. It can then send an image over WiFi to a phone running a free app.
The VTL500R camera system also provides a recording feature so you get a recording of the last 5 backups in a continuous loop.
It has night vision and built in parking lines. The camera is also waterproof to an IP67 rating. An expected retail price is $199
Update: With an Android phone, the camera image automatically appears on the phone screen when the car goes into reverse (provided the WiFi connection is established). The phone will typically connect to WiFi when the ignition is turned on and then in about 5 or 6 seconds, if you go into reverse, an image will appear. So there is a short warm up time for the WiFi connection to establish when you first enter the car.
With an iPhone you need to manually launch the app and then the image appears when you shift into reverse.
So does it launch the app when you put your car into reverse?
Hi Tony. Thanks for the question.
