CarPlay May Get Big Boost

Apple, the most valuable company in the world, has a lot of advertising clout.  So if it decides to advertise CarPlay, we can expect a corresponding boost in consumer awareness.

Pioneer said it expects Apple will promote CarPlay this year, although it is uncertain whether that will be in the form of TV ads, radio, print or digital media.

Apple did not respond to a CEoutlook inquiry.

Apple’s expected ads, plus advertising by the car companies will eventually create an explosion of interest in CarPlay said, Pioneer’s Ted Cardenas.

“Once we see the OEs start announcing this tech, our expectation is they will start advertising and consumer awareness will elevate….General Motors put Pandora in a Super Bowl ad two years ago,” he said.

Among the car companies offering CarPlay are General Motors as of this summer  (including 2016 Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac models), Hyundai and Ferrari.  CarPlay is also coming soon to Honda vehicles starting with the 2016 Accord. 1. We’ve had great success with the Pioneer units. Not saying they are perfect but still pretty good. The new Kenwood is fast and works well but has a couple quirks. Remember, some of the ability of this technology lies with Apple not just the after market companies. I hate defending Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, JVC, etc. since they don’t seem to care about protecting their retailers and keep allowing their products to be whored out and devalued online but in this case we can’t blame them 100%.

  2. That will do the after market little good if we don’t have an absolutely flawless option available for the consumer. The manufacturers have shipped so many “beta” products that past few years that should have never past quality control. When they can built a 9/10 or a 10/10 device then we’ll have something worth mentioning!
