Mobile Solutions, marking its 10th year anniversary, has trained more than 1,500 installation technicians per year.
Owner Bryan Schmitt, a former Rockford Fosgate employee, set out a decade ago to create a unique training system that was different from typical vocational programs. All the training schools at the time focused on basic education for beginners. Schmitt decided to focus on the professional and offer specialized techniques that improved installations.
Within a few years, most installation schools closed due to the economic collapse and reluctance of banks to offer financing to students. When Rockford’s own RTTI training center closed to new students, it hired Mobile Solutions to take its training on the road.
“When we first started, there were a few really talented guys doing great things with fabrication,” said Schmitt. “My goal with Mobile Solutions was to show other professional technicians that they could do it as well—on projects big and small and in a minimal, profitable amount of time—using the right techniques and tools.”
Schmitt also began designing and producing fabrication-specific tools in-house. It was part of an initial plan to take 10 tools to International CES. The explosion of interest resulted in the company’s now 400-plus SKUs of installation tools and products.
“In ten years, this business has grown from my wife Michele and myself to four awesome employees and a great group of industry friends who assist me in training classes,” Schmitt said. “I’ve traveled to over 40 countries to train and it’s been a blast.”
