Here’s the First Distributors in New 12V Group

The new Mobile electronics Distributor Group, MED, has released the names of its first distributor members as follows:

Advanced Marketing, S. California;  Custom Plus Distributing, N. California, and OR, WA and AK;  Mountain West Distributing, MT, ID, WY,UT, CO and AZ, NM ;  AM Distributors, ND, SD, MN, W. WI and N. IL, E.WI;  Pioneer Music, NE, IA, KS, MO;  P&E Distributors, TN, MS, AL, GA;  Ultimate Marketing, NC, SC and FL;  MRI, ME, VT, NH, CT, MA, RI and Upstate NY;  Davis Distributing. WV, W. PA, OH and IN, KY.

The group said it expects to add other distributors over the next few weeks, which should result in full coverage of nearly every territory in the US.

Ray Windsor, founder of the group said the distributor member list “does not represent the largest or most aggressive or oldest or most degreed set of folks.” But he said the distributors share a common philosophy for improving car audio distribution.

Kevin Holder from Ultimate Marketing added, “We are confident that we can help develop a business platform that strengthens the distributor-vendor relation and distributor-retailer relationship for years to come”.

MED, first announced in December, aims to streamline the distributor buying process so it isn’t conducted mainly through end-of-the month deals that erode profits.

It aims to restore trust between suppliers and distributors regarding handling inventory management, purchasing forecasting and solving distressed inventory problems. Basically the aim is to “reduce the level of stress that it currently takes to conduct this business. It doesn’t have to be that way. It doesn’t have to be done in the last 2 or 3 days of the month,” Windsor said.

Under the group, suppliers can receive group commitments from distributors, which helps with inventory planning and reduces discounting from overstocks. Also, distributors no longer need to wait to pile up orders in order to place larger orders for better discounts, which translates to better consistent inventory levels for dealers, said Windsor.

The MED Charter Meeting will be held May 7 in Dallas.

    Identifying a problem, identifying a solution and then getting about the business of an organized execution of the solution is one way to re-establish or perhaps establish predictability in business. I firmly believe that PROFIT, IDENTITY and PREDICTABILITY are the three most important things in business. And for sure PREDICTABILITY is the least delivered and least understood of the three. I hope to hear from you soon.

  2. So the guy that is leading the way for Amazon to get into installation is now working directly with distributors to make things better for distributors? No concerns with that I guess.
