Rydeen Appoints Sales Manager: Pushes Safety

Goodman and Maeda

Rydeen Mobile has appointed industry veteran Bob Goodman to the post of National Sales Manager effective July 14.

Goodman has held positions at JBL, Aurasound, and Sherwood was most recently Western Regional Sales Manager at Rostra.

Rydeen CEO Phil Maeda said he shares the same goal as Goodman in helping to build the driver safety category at 12 volt retailers.

The category of smart mirrors, backup camera systems and other advanced driver safety products, is very fragmented without a clear leader in the overall category, so “we want to be a one-stop shop and the leader in quality and service,” said Maeda.

Until now, the safety category has been largely sold through expediters, and Rydeen also aims to make it popular with 12 volt specialists, where it has strong potential for growth.

“Before the recession, 70 percent of cars sold were on lease… the next buyer will be a 28 years old that is starting a family and he’s interested in safety.  And he’s going to shop at a 12 volt store, not a car dealer,” Goodman said.  “We want to bring awareness to a category that has limited visibility.”
