First Radar-Based Blindspot Detector for Aftermarket

Goshers Blind spot detector

Blind spot detectors are in hot demand by consumers and Goshers is now developing and testing the first blind spot detector for the aftermarket that uses radar, just as the OEM versions found in new cars.

Goshers, based in Los Angeles, said it may introduce the product later this year.

Goshers is already arguably the first and only company to nationally supply blind spot detectors for the aftermarket, but its current detectors are ultrasonic based.  They send out sonar waves to detect an object on the side of the car. But radar systems provide better detection.

“Radar is the same technology used in Boeing jets and army jets.  It can track and follow moving objects as they approach the vehicle.  It has about 99.9 percent accuracy, so very few false detections, if any at all,” said Goshers’ founder Hardeep Singh.

No pricing for the system has been set.

Goshers launched a basic 2-sensor system two years ago  with a sensor on each side of the rear of the car.   When an object is detected in the car’s blind spot, an LED flashes (mounted within the driver’s peripheral view).

However, the system picks up guard rails and walls on the side of the road as a false alert.  So Goshers began offering a premium kit with two additional sensors mounted in the front of the car on either side to eliminate many false alerts. The premium system sells at $349.

Goshers said it has seen a jump in awareness and sales since Consumer Reports reviewed its product in its November 2013 issue and Yahoo.com also featured it on its home page in October.

  1. We did a couple of installs on these Goshers kits for customers who brought them in… It’s a good quality kit for the money, and worked fine. We even had tech questions and they were really on top of it to work it through. The customers seem to like it… Some quick checking on Google shows these have been selling for over two years, and have pretty good reviews. They even have Specialty on board for distribution here on the East Coast (they may have others). No question, these guys are the solution for blind spot monitoring.

  2. parzan, and hurleys have been installing the product for over a year now. goshen is late.
