Mobileye announced a new kit that allows its aftermarket early crash warning device to fit into more cars.
A new module called the E-Box allows the Mobileye 560 to work in any vehicle. Previously, the safety system only worked in full CAN bus vehicles, or 2008 and later cars.
Mobileye’s 560 is an in-car safety system that warns the driver if he’s approaching the car ahead to fast. It uses a smart camera and algorithms to detect an imminent crash and other hazards. Most accidents occur because drivers stop paying attention in the 3-seconds preceding a collision.
The 560 also offers lane departure warning and other features at $849.
The new E-Box adapter is shipping now at $99.
