Here’s some more details on Car Tech Week and how your store can cash in on a rare national TV opportunity for car electronics.
Car Tech Week will include appearances by CEA representative Steve Kidera on TV morning news shows across the country. During the day, CEA will broadcast by satellite from a car stereo shop in Washington, DC (as yet unnamed) to help get the ball rolling.
Kidera will likely focus on handsfree car kits, back up cameras, and rear seat entertainment plus other car AV products, but the exact lineup has not been finalized. “We’re trying to get as broad a product line possible,” he said. Usually each show gives you about 3 minutes on the air.
“Consumers may not know how easy it is to install a backup camera and how cheap they are. We’re not just focusing on sound or video,” he added.
Last year, CEA held a similar event on safe driving which resulted in over 7 million views on the Internet and live broadcasts.
For retailers:
CEA will recommend that viewers go to www.digitaltips.org and there, they will be directed to nearby retailers. The retail locator is powered by the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA).
Any retailer can email [email protected] and sign up. “That’s 7 to 8 million eye balls. You get a small fraction of that going into the store,” said Kidera.
Also, in the days leading up to May 25, CEA will provide directions on how dealers may upload web banners for Car Tech Week to post on their site, and then send emails to customers to promote the event.
