The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA), a car stereo trade group, has purchased Mobile Electronics magazine and Hotwire from Bobit Business Media for an undisclosed sum.

MERA buys Mobile Electronics MagazineMERA will overtake all publishing responsibility for the industry’s sole print trade magazine dedicated to car electronics, as well as the Hotwire newsletter and me-mag.com Web site.

The purchase signifies MERA’s increasingly active role in car electronics since it was purchased by InstallerNet in July 2009. This fall, MERA also revived KnowledgeFest–an annual industry trade event.

Chris Cook, MERA’s executive director said, “Although the magazine will have independent leadership, MERA funding will be available and there is a clear goal of getting back to monthly publications along with a stronger web presence.”

He added, “Mobile Electronics Magazine is coming off its strongest issue since changing to the bi-monthly format two years ago.”

  1. We hope the purchase of Mobile Electronics magazine by MERA will be a big success. The combination of a retailer’s organization and it’s #1 trade magazine could be huge.
