Smaller iPad Due

Apple is planning a smaller version of the iPad with a 5- to 7-inch screen due in the first quarter 2011, reports Digitimes.

Based on news tips from component makers, Digitimes says the smaller iPad will sell for under $400 and will have a high emphasis on “reading,” which we assume will include eReading.

Digitimes adds the HP Slate will be released mid-year.  To date HP has said only the device will launch some time this year.

  1. Hmmm… that one will be interesting as a car media player. The iPad is a little too big and the iPhone is a little too small. The iPad “nano” will be just right.
