Pioneer is bringing its retro SXT-C10PS head unit and TS-X40SXT box speakers to North America as part of its new Heritage Collection. The retro radio launched in Europe more than a year ago.
When CEoutlook first reported the deck’s European launch in May 2025, readers asked Pioneer to bring it here. The UK release made a lot of noise online, with hands-on videos, enthusiast reports and coverage across multiple sites. UK retailer Car Audio Security posted a hands-on video before the official launch. The response was the same when CEoutlook covered the box speakers’ UK debut in June. The speakers first sold in Japan under Pioneer’s Carrozzeria brand, then in the UK at about £250.
Pioneer’s Heritage Collection will be showcased at RADwood NorCal driven by Hagerty, where Pioneer is the Official Sound Partner.
How to Get Them
Preorders open today at usa.pioneer. Authorized retailers and dealers get stock in November. Now is a good time to talk to your rep about allocation.
What It Costs
The SXT-C10PS head unit retails for $499 and the TS-X40SXT speakers for $299. That’s about $800 in hardware per install before labour.
Who’s Buying It
The core customer is restoring a 1980s or 1990s car and wants a dash that looks original but still streams from a phone. Many are over 40, rebuilding the car they wanted as teenagers, and they aren’t shopping on price. Younger drivers chasing the retro look are a second market.
How It Stacks Up Against Blaupunkt
Until now, Blaupunkt’s Bremen SQR 46 DAB, a remake of its 1986 deck, has had this market largely to itself. It typically sells online for $500 to $550, so the Pioneer comes in slightly under.
- Blaupunkt advantages: front and rear USB, SD card slot, shallow chassis for older dashes
- Pioneer advantages: HD Radio and SiriusXM-ready instead of DAB+, which isn’t used in North America; a matching period-correct speaker; sold through authorized dealers
