PRV Audio introduced the DSP 2.4X BT, a Bluetooth app controlled digital signal processor built for 4-way car audio systems. The unit gives installers and enthusiasts real time control over the audio signal directly from a smartphone.
The DSP 2.4X BT offers 2-input channels and 4-output channels, with independent gain, crossover and parametric EQ settings per channel. The processor includes a 10-band graphic equalizer with plus or minus 12 dB adjustment per band, along with 21 digital crossover filter options across Butterworth, Linkwitz Riley and Bessel topologies for high pass and low pass settings.
A built in speaker wire converter, described by PRV as a high level input, allows the DSP to integrate with factory radios without replacing the head unit. This lets installers add DSP tuning to vehicles with factory installed audio systems.
The unit also includes a built in remote output relay, referred to as a sequencer, with 3 outputs that power amplifiers on or off in a set sequence. Activation and deactivation timing is adjustable from 0 to 4 seconds. PRV said this feature eliminates the pop or thump sound that can occur when an amplifier powers on or off before the head unit.
Additional tools include a tone generator, frequency sweep function, save and load configuration options and channel link. The DSP also comes preloaded with crossover presets for PRV speakers, drivers and tweeters, which PRV said simplifies setup for users without extensive tuning experience.
Control is available through the unit’s LCD display and onboard controls, or through the PRV DSP app, available for iOS and Android.
Specifications include a frequency response of 10 Hz to 22.5 kHz at minus 1 dB, latency of 1.08 ms, signal to noise ratio above 90 dB, and THD below 0.01%. The unit measures 1.45 by 7.87 by 3.97 inches and weighs 1 pound. It operates on 9 to 16 volts DC.
The DSP 2.4X BT carries a list price of $99.89 and is available now through PRV Audio.
