Manufacturer’s rep Echo Sales and its MED, Mobile Electronics Distributors, distribution arm was purchased November 1 by Chris Hilbert, the owner of retailer, Sound Decisions of Racine, WI.
Echo Sales’ Mike Lewis remains on board as Rep/Sales Manager and Doug Hanson is Rep/Rep Principal.
Echo Sales is a prominent manufacturer’s rep out of Chicago that partners with brands including Alpine, Elettromedia, Dynamat, VOXX, BOSS Audio, ZZ2, Wavtech and JBL. It handles the territories of Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and North and South Dakota for most of the brands.
Hilbert said, “I’ve been on the dealer side since I graduated high school, working for my father. He started the business in 1972. I was getting burnt out with the day to day dealings with consumers. I think I can help the dealers work through some of their problems and the things they deal with day to day.”
All Echo’s brand partners are continuing with the company, said Hilbert.
Hilbert remains owner of Sound Decisions, a 52-year old shop started by Hilbert’s father, Ernest. The store has been a member of the Mobile Electronics Specialists of America buying/marketing group for the past eight years.
Employment opportunities are available at Sound Decisions, said Hilbert.
Maybe they’ll finally get me the dealer pricing I was promised a month ago when I opened an account.
