Recoil Audio to relaunch US car audio line

With the recent appointment of industry veteran Ron Trout as President, Recoil Audio USA, the sister company to Cicada Audio, will relaunch around the first of next year.

Trout is President of both the fast growing motorcycle audio company, Cicada as well as Recoil Audio USA, which initially made a dealer-oriented market debut in the US earlier this year.

As Recoil is a global brand with a very broad assortment, from the high to low end, Trout is responsible for finding a mix of products suited for the US.

“In some countries Recoil only sells high end.  We have component speakers that are audiophile quality that are not sold in the US yet, but that we will probably bring in.  They sell extremely well in other countries. We make amplifiers that range from $150 MAP to over $1,000 dollars,” said Trout.

To date, most of the Recoil Audio products sold in the US, have been lower cost models offered through Amazon. However,  the new line will perform above that level and will be priced so as not to compete with the current products on Amazon.  They will also include higher end products, Trout said.

Recoil expects to have a final lineup by the end of the month.   By December, it will formally hire reps. Some Cicada reps will end up also partnering with Recoil and some may not, said Trout.

Recoil is a key OEM supplier of speaker wire and accessories. “Many companies are thinking of getting out of the wire business because of the volatile price of copper. We will push hard on the wire and accessory category in the new launch,” said Trout.  The wire line-up includes copper clad aluminum (CCA), 100 percent oxygen free copper (OFC) and tinned OFC wire that won’t oxidize, which is suitable for marine/motorsports/motorcycle use, he said.

Trout retired from JVC Mobile in April as Director of Sales. He headed up JVC Mobile sales for 12 years and prior to that served at Rockford Fosgate for 20 years.
