Memphis said it has fully overhauled its entry level Street Reference (SRX) speakers and mid-tier Power Reference (PRX) amplifiers.

Upgrades include a new tweeter design, increased power handling and use of advanced construction materials.  The paper cones of the previous line have been replaced by polypropylene cones and the foam surrounds have been replaced by rubber surrounds. Tweeters now use neodymium magnets.  The line also achieves shallower mounting depths and the tweeters are reduced in height so they can fit under more factory grilles.

Power handling on the line runs about 50 watts RMS to 100 watts maximum for 6.5 inch speakers. Pricing for the line ranges from $59.95 to $99.95.

Memphis also revamped its PRX amplifiers that are now more compact.  The PRX1000.1V2 model received a 43 percent decrease in size.

The line now gets a top-mounted control panel for easy adjustments and dual ground-illuminating LED strips. The amplifiers also use extruded aluminum heat sinks and 12dB/octave Butterworth crossovers and variable crossovers.  Prices range from $249.95 to $499.95.
