Orion has re-hired many of its old guard executives and is returning amplifier production to the U.S., in what one of the leaders called a resurrection of Orion Industries.
The company, now owned by Sound Pros (Alphasonik), announced on Tuesday, the appointment of Bill Turner to the post of “VP Dealer Success.” In addition, the company released a video stating that Jack Cali has been named “VP of Chaos.” Mark Busier, the original Orion engineer, also recently returned as VP Engineering, US Production.
Turner has a long history in car audio. He held executive posts at Polk Audio, Harman, and JVC Car Audio as well as Orion, and managerial posts at Audiobahn, Directed and Rockford. He was VP Sales at Orion in the 90’s.
Turner is tasked with the goals of “revitalizing American-made car audio” and supporting independent specialty retailers. (See the full press release on Turner’s return to Orion below).

An Orion press statement said, “Orion is currently in the process of assembling the original Orion family once again, and they are reaching out to those who share their passion for Orion.”
A video featuring Cali stated, “Were going to resurrect Orion Industries and that’s what we’ve done already. The corporation is back open. We’re going to be building these boards [for amplifiers], with hand assembly in Arizona like we used to do….. you’re going to remember how warm and crisp those amplifiers sound.
Busier said, “It’s my mission to bring back US production for car audio. We have resurrected the NT series of amplifiers, which were probably the highest sound quality amplifiers that we ever had. Next, we’re going to bring back the high current ACCA line of amplifiers, built here…”
The NT series will be available very shortly, Busier said, adding, “The NT series amplifiers, the new ones, are actually a little better than the old ones are…because there’s better technology now than there was in the 80s and 90s to make them more reliable and last longer.”
Orion was owned by ADS Technologies, which also owned Precision Power. It was purchased by Directed in 2004. It was sold in 2012 to a Latin America supplier MD Audio Engineering and was acquired by Sound Pros last year.

NICE!!
Glad to see some US manufacturing expanding in 12-Volt…we NEED more of this!
LOVE IT!
MMATS has been building amplifiers in the USA since 1993. For sure it is an uphill battle with the complexities of Surface Mount and Contact assembly processes and ultimately wave-solder to complete the process. Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in 12 volt amplification is not supported at all in the USA so you will be on your own blazing these new trails. Would be nice to finally have some company! Good luck Guys!
GO GET ‘EM BOYS !!!
