Alphasonik Buys Orion

Alphasonik (newly named Sound Pros) has purchased the Orion brand for an undisclosed sum from MD Audio, which supplies Lanzar Pro car audio in the US.

Sound Pros purchased the rights to the Orion brand, all patents and “everything to do with the brand,” said Edgar Cedeno, Sound Pros General Manager.  The company is now effectively the parent to both Alphasonik and Orion. Rick Andersen remains Senior Vice President.

“Alphasonik is a very high end brand and Orion is a powerhouse brand, well-known for competition power.  That is why we thought it would be best, for more coverage in the market,” Cedeno said.

Prior to the pandemic, Orion had about 500 or 600 dealers and 40 international customers.  But during the pandemic, the company reduced marketing and lost market share.  Sound Pros plans to to add visibility to the brand, said Cedeno.   To start, it will show Orion and Alpahsonik lines at Truck Week in March in Miami and Jeep Beach in April in Daytona Beach.

All Orion products remain in the line, which will be warehoused and shipped from Sound Pros’ Hialeah and Los Angeles locations.

President and Owner of Sound Pros, Yoel (Joey) Gidanian, said the company also boosted Alphasonik sales since its exhibit at the SEMA Show last fall, with sales exceeding forecast.  It will ship the Alphasonik  Mayhem flagship models later this month, bringing the model count to 150 for 2023.
