Sony 10-Inch Radio Update

Sony’s new 10-inch radio XAV-AX8500 is now expected to ship in spring of 2024, said the company at the SEMA Show.   For a video of the deck’s new swivel screen, see CEoutlook on Facebook.

As noted last week, the new deck includes wireless CarPlay and Android Auto and iDatalink Maestro capability for retaining key factory features. It also has HDMI connectivity and LDAC playback.

KICKER Pricing on Truck-Specific Sub Boxes

KICKER’s first truck-specific subwoofer enclosures will ship in mid Q1 2024 at suggested retail prices from $899.99-$999.99.

As reported earlier, they use dual L7T square, slim subwoofers. They are form-fitting, and install under the back seat in select versions of the Ford F150, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Ram.  Power output is up to 1,200 watts (RMS).

They will be joined by KICKER’s first 3-way component speakers. The KS-Series models come with either 6 x 9 or 6.5 inch mid bass drivers.  Pricing is $379.99-$429.99. These are drop-in upgrades for select models of GM, Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and other vehicles.

Nakamichi Shows New DSP

Nakamichi showed a new digital signal processor (DSP)/amplifier, model 550A. It offers 10 channel inputs and 12 channel outputs with peak power at 80 watts by 4, 160 watts by 2 and 300 watts mono.  It replaces the current Nakamichi model 500.

  2. Excited about those Kicker truck boxes. They seemed VERY well built, ones I saw in their SEMA booth.
