Alpine Status New Speakers

Alpine (Alps Alpine) is shipping the first components for its new Alpine Status system--the high resolution audio system that borrows technology from the ultra high end $35,000 AlpineF#1Status system.

Shipping now are two high resolution component speakers, which will be joined by the remaining Status system products in late fall/early winter, said Alpine.

The new HDZ-653 6.5-inch, 3-Way Component Speaker Set and HDZ-65C 6.5-inch, 2-Way Component Speaker Set, were designed to reproduce Hi-Res Audio at a wide bandwidth of 55Hz – 40kHz.

The speakers use a unified carbon composite cone construction “for a unified timbre identity,” and they use a double gathered edge surround for low distortion.

The HDZ-653 includes a 6.5-inch mid-bass driver, a 3.5-inch midrange driver, and a 1.25-inch high-range driver. The HDZ-65C includes a 6.5-inch mid-bass driver and a 1.25-inch high-range driver.

The full Status system includes 8 components, including a two-part head unit, model HDS-990, which has a controller/screen and a black box.

The full Status system delivers Hi-Res Audio at 192kHz/24Bit playback, while the higher end AlpineF#1Status is the first system to reproduce Hi-Res Audio at 384kHz/32bit.

Status components are designed to function best as a system but may be sold separately. The full system has a retail price of between $8,000 to $11,000 (compared to the AlpineF#1Status at $35,000).
