Can Am Ryker Install

By Mr Retail

A client stopped by at Foss Audio & Tint, in Puyallup, WA, requesting an upgrade that would allow her to use her phone as a source unit while riding her Can Am Ryker, 3-wheel motorcycle.

She also wanted the audio system to allow for expansion in the future.

I think CJ Silvey and his team at Foss really knocked it out of the park when you consider the total bill and the time needed in the install bay.

Can Am RykerThey began with a Rockford Fosgate RFBTRCA Bluetooth module to receive the music signal from the smartphone. It then sent a signal to the Rockford T400x4Ad amplifier that was mounted in the storage compartment on a custom ABS mounting plate. Nutserts were used so the bracket could be easily removed in the future for serviceability.

It then powered a set of Rockford M1WL-65MB 6.5” motorsports canister speakers. As you can see in the pictures, they look great on the Ryker. Their RGB lighting gave them the ability to create a beautiful blue hue coming out of the pods themselves.  They painted them satin black to blend in with the existing color setup. Stainless steel hardware was used to bolt them to the chassis of the bike. MESA wiring was used throughout the installation.

So, in the end, this was an $1800 job that took five hours to install. Wow, this was a good idea! And by using a 4- channel amplifier, the client has expandability options in the future. I know I would sure like to do 10 of these in a row if the opportunity presented itself. Great job CJ and team at Foss Audio & Tint.

  1. Did this on a Ryker last summer. It’s a great addition, however needs a TON of bracing to work properly. Got some creeping cracks that spread from the mounting holes of the wakeboard cans, so I had to fabricate big plates for the outside and inside that would spread the load. it’s a lot of weight hanging off the side of a bumpy ride.
I think from these pictures they mounted the cans to the heavy duty ‘frame’, but my client was too tall for that and mounting them there would have put his knee in contact with the cans when riding, and we couldn’t move them any further forward without interfering with other bits of the bike. So, it had to be a bit farther up on the fairing, which was thinner plastic compared to the frame.
Anyway, the Ryker is great to work on and has a lot of aftermarket toys to add on. Fun ride!

  2. Very nice little system C.J. (as usual) a couple grand in the till AND a very happy customer that will most likely upgrade in the near future… and will definitely funnel others in to do the same. Great Job
