Dual Electronics is starting to ship its first CarPlay deck under the Jensen brand. At a street price of $259, the VX5228 is a mechless receiver (without a CD or DVD player) with a 6.2-inch screen,
The unit also offers Bluetooth, USB input, 4 volt output and backup camera input.
Dual is taking steps to bring Jensen into limited distribution and “give back the brand to independents,” said Dual’s Division Sales Manager Mike Ventura. It now offers a 2-year warranty on all AV models. Last year, the company began policing and “going after third party sellers on Amazon,” he said.
Soon to follow in April is a Jensen 4024 CarPlay radio with DVD. And in mid-to-late April, the company will ship the Jensen 7024 with navigation. Single DIN versions with flip out screens are the 4014 DVD model and the 7024 with navigation. DVD CarPlay models start at $359 and navigation CarPlay models range from $399 to $449.
I am still waiting for the story for the most expensive and best car play radio out there instead of scrapping the bottom to see who can make them the cheapest. As an industry this is something we should not endorse. Quality, reliability, and cutting edge technology above all else when it comes to our manufacturer partners!
Exactly. So-called “giving back to the independents” a product so damn cheap they can’t make any money is the exact opposite. “taking away from the independents” is more apt.

These 80’s revision brands need to just die with dignity and leave what’s left of the industry to the serious players.
