JL Audio is shipping next week a new line of C1 entry level component and coaxial speakers. They are designed as OEM replacement speakers with mounting rings for easy integration into vehicles.

The line covers all the key sizes with fewer models and offers features typically found at much higher price points, claims JL Audio. Suggested retail prices range from $49.99 – $159.99. This is lower than  JL’s current C2 line with prices from $89 to $250.

The C1 adapter rings are model specific and included for bottom-mount applications and for compatibility with unique speaker frame designs from car makers such as GM and Honda. They also work in oversized 6.75-inch openings.

Features on the C1 include aluminum dome tweeters, oversized voice coils, and integrated lead wires.

“This year we set out to solidify JL Audio as a full-range speaker company. The introduction of C1 anchors our offering in the category and provides the first time buyer a taste of amazing sound from the factory speaker location,” said Manville Smith, JL Audio VP of Marketing.

  1. My only concern with them in the low end market would be if they decide to sell out, and work the drop ship arena to Amazon, and others. If they stay out of that market, then I think they can solidify themselves against companies like Rockford, Pioneer, and Alpine as a all in one solution for every customer. It’s a base model speaker, and should be sold as such. If you are worried about losing brand effectiveness because of the low price, then you are not selling your top end brands properly, and probably need to rethink your sales structure, and training.

  2. COME ON JL!!! QUIT CHEAPING OUT!!! There’s 6 billion brands selling cheap car audio. You’re suppose to be a top shelf brand! I have customers come in asking for your product. I don’t even want them to be able to satisfy their hunger for 80 bucks… You want JL, pay up. AND THEY DO!

  3. Curious to hear from as many retailers as possible on their thoughts about JL entering the low end, low priced amp and speaker arena. Do you see it as a great decision and one that will strengthen your store and our industry overall or do you see it as just one more impediment that pushes the consumer to expect more for less $$$
