Harman will ship in March a production version of the JBL Smartbase–a dashboard driver safety device and “personal driving assistant,” linking to your phone via Bluetooth.

A prototype of the Smartbase was shown at CES 2016.

Smartbase can be controlled by voice via Siri and Google Now serving as an easy way to make calls, play music and access navigation as well as send messages.  It also integrates with Harman’s iOnRoad app that provides lane departure warning and front collision warnings.  And it gives you DVR capability and some vehicle location options.

JBL includes patented noise cancelling technology for quality handsfree calling.

“Today’s drivers are increasingly distracted on the road, so we wanted to create a hands-free communication kit that allows them to stay connected in a safe and convenient way,” said Jeff Fay, VP and GM of Car Audio Aftermarket at Harman.
