CRUX Interfacing is offering a radical new interface for many Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The interface unlocks the CarPlay and Android Auto features in many Mercedes vehicles, even if the customer did not order the option from the factory.
The interface is a simple module that plugs into an OBD2 port and then automatically runs a program for 30 seconds, essentially commanding the car radio to unlock CarPlay and Android Auto.
Users remove the OBD2 device after 30 seconds and then get full access to CarPlay and Android Auto including voice control and steering wheel control.
No radio replacement is required and there is nothing to install.
The interface module works with Mercedes vehicles with the Command NTG5.1 audio system.
Shipping and pricing will be announced at CES next month as well as a full list of compatible Mercedes-Benz models.
CRUX will display at CES at booth #7709 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 5-8.
What is preventing the dealer from resetting this feature back to stock if they scan and flash the car during an actual MBZ update?
If done properly, the cars build sheet is updated in the vehicles’ documents in Germany, this allows you to get factory updates that may come out in the future, like maybe for Iphone 8,9,10 . Which will be out in a few months.
If done properly using your method that involves the dealership…. I’m referring to this crux piece? There is no update in the dealer’s system

The misinformation about Carplay availability in Mercedes Benz vehicles has gone as far as lawsuits against the company, all the “Dealer still needed” info below was just meant as a warning for other shops. It is Christmas. Plug and play is great with all the prerequisites. We have been doing Carplay retros for almost a year now, Never had one activate with a right click of my mouse yet. The near future maybe.
There are very few Mercedes Benz vehicles already built that have the capability of Carplay that are not already turned on, older vehicles produced 2013 thru 2016 production dates are not Carplay ready!
They need ” Factory Software update programming performed”, plus new usb hardware in some cases, and “Then” some programming to activate Apples Carplay. This can only be done at the Mercedes Benz dealership, if you hold their hand to help get it done. Or it can be performed by a few select independents around the country.
Plug and play for the lucky few only!
Wow. Just need one for BMW too before they figure out how to lock it up.
