Pioneer Electronics added another AV deck to its new Limited Distribution program, bringing the total number of products in the program to eight.
Launched in May, the Limited Distribution program now includes the new AVH- 291BT AV receiver announced this week at $250 .
Pioneer expects to add more products including in-dash navigation and other car speakers to the Limited Distribution program next year. Current products in the program now include a double DIN CD receiver, three single DIN CD players, a DVD receiver, a digital media receiver and two subwoofers.
The program was launched quietly this spring to help car audio specialists offer products that are protected from Internet discounting. Its products are not sold through distributors, Amazon or Walmart. Stores that qualify for the program must offer installation or value-added customer service.
Pioneer VP marketing Ted Cardenas said, “We all know about the changing state of how consumers are buying… This is to provide the specialist….some level of protection on price and margins.”
The Limited Distribution line is the first that Pioneer has offered since the Premier brand was discontinued in 2009, with the exception of very high end Stage IV products.
Limited Distribution products have slightly different model numbers than other Pioneer products to prevent online price comparisons. And they have a different margin and price structure.
The new AVH-291BT offers:
- Built-in Bluetooth
- Back-Up Camera Ready
- iPod/iPhone Compatibility
- 6.2-inch WVGA Touch Panel Display with LED Backlight
