Jaren Digos is 19 and has been in the navy for a year. He’s on shore duty all day, but when his work day ends at 4pm, his other job starts, at Audio One in VA, working as an installer.
Digos is a navy Seebee; that’s the construction battalion, which in times of war, will build runways or other structures on foreign soil. And he is the son of Jason Digos, National Sales Manager for Elettromedia
Digos started to love car audio when he was only 6 or 7 years old and his dad worked at Rockford Fosgate. He would visit the office and “see car parts everywhere, all the audio equipment was interesting.” He’d watch dad work on his own car too, and started pilfering left over car audio parts. Then he wired up a stereo system in his room. Dad saw he had an aptitude and started bringing him more car audio parts to work with.
In 5th grade, Digos Jr. did a school project with the help of some Rockford technicians, especially Tony D’Amore, who was at Rockford at the time. “They helped me pick out wires and magnets and I made a speaker out of a Styrofoam cup…that’s when I really started getting into it…I never read books, but if there was an instruction manual, I would always want to read it.”
He started helping his dad at Rockford during the summers to build displays and demo cars.
Around 2010, his dad started his own business as an installer and Digos Jr. helped out. JVC Mobile commissioned a Shelby GT500 as a CES demo car in 2012. Digos Jr. did ALL the fabrication himself. He was 15. The car went to CES and won an award for being number 8 for best of show demo cars. By then dad had gone to work for Cerwin-Vega. The funny thing was that Cerwin’s car was ranked two places lower, at number 10.
“I was a sophomore in high school. I was 15 years old. That’s when it started where I felt I craved…I wanted to build a car. That’s when I knew I loved doing this stuff. “
He continued to hold side jobs in car audio. He built displays for KnowledgeFest. And he performed local home theater installs.
But the navy called too. Digos grandfather was a Seebee and he grew up hearing stories of the navy. Ultimately, he decided to serve his country and joined the navy. But he couldn’t stay away from car audio.
“I got bored easily when cars weren’t around….I asked my dad if there was any place I could work.” His dad suggested nearby Audio One.
“The first day I walked in I filled out an application and I started to work there at the Little Creek/ Norfolk store since it was closer to my base. It’s one of 5 stores they have.”
He now works for the navy from 6 am to 4 pm and then heads over to Audio One where he installs radios, amps, subwoofers and remote start/security systems. He cleans the shop too and is happy to do so. “It’s something my dad always taught me. The cleaner the work space, the more productive you can be.”

This kid is one of son’s best friends since Jr High. I can’t count the hours they spent in his garage doing car audio. So proud of the men they have grown up to be. Love you and miss you lots Jaren!!
