There is some new evidence that CarPlay is selling well, according to The Wall Street Journal.
General Motors told the newspaper that its car dealers say that CarPlay is doing well in the field, and the feature is bringing customers into showrooms.
GM plans to roll out CarPlay to many additional car models as fast as they are able, it said.
Chris Hemmersmeier, CEO of a chain of Jerry Seiner dealers in Utah told the WSJ, “We’ve had people coming in because they’ve heard about it, and once they see it, they really do like it because it mirrors the look and feel of the devices they use. He added, “It’s helping to close the deal once they see it.”
Gavin McGrath, the General Manager of Pat McGrath Chevyland in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, told the WSJ that he’s been advertising CarPlay and it has paid off. “The biggest thing that it has brought to the retail front is…navigation is going to cost $900 [to] $1,000 [as an option]. Here you have Apple CarPlay, and boom your nav is there. That has already helped us close deals.”
McGrath said he’s already considering changing his car orders to buy more cars with factory CarPlay.
