Directed announced new remote start SmartStart Digital Systems that now operate on the Verizon CDMA/3G network forĀ faster response times while consuming less power.
The systems previously worked over a 2G network from AT&T/T-Mobile.
In addition, under Verizon, the remote start systems will now operate in more locations, as Verizon has greater network coverage.
The system also now comes with a 60 day free trail of digital GPS tracking of any car on the plan with SmartStart (remote start from a smartphone).
The new SmartStart 4.0 hardware is 25 percent smaller than previously. But it remains compatible with earlier hardware.
The cost for the new SmartStart Digital Systems remains comparable to a standard 2-way remote start system in the $300 to $400 range.
With SmartStart Digital Systems, users get an all-in-one system for remote start, as well as a data module to work with your particular car, remote start from a phone, GPS tracking and remote start from the factory key fob.

- VSS4X10 Viper Digital Remote Start
- VSS5X10 Viper Remote Start and Security
