Fiat Chrysler will recall 1.4 million vehicles that were found to be open to attack from hackers through the infotainment system’s Internet connection, said Reuters.
The cars were vulnerable to hackers who could gain remote control of the engine, steering and other systems as revealed in an article by Wired.
Under the recall, Chrysler will install software to prevent hacking
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday it would investigate whether Fiat Chrysler’s software upgrade was sufficient to protect consumers from hackers.
Chrysler said it was not aware of an injuries resulting from the infotainment system vulnerability.
