The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and MECP are taking to Twitter and Instagram to host a contest for retailers and consumers who post pictures of their great car audio installations. Users post a photo with hashtag #connectmycar and are automatically entered to win American Express gift cards of up to $250.
The CEA will promote the video on social media to raise awareness for car audio and the connected car.
The contest launched Wednesday and will run until June 1. You can see the rules here.
The MECP, Mobile Electronics Certified Professionals group, is the only nationally recognized program that certifies car audio installers and salespeople on install techniques and expertise. It’s owned and operated by the Consumer Electronics Association and has certified more than 35,000 installers since its creation in 1991. More than 4,000 installers take the certification exam annually.
Cool idea, bummer to see that it’s not an international program.
