BMW 7 remote parking

For the first time in a real car, and not a CES demo, remote control parking will be offered by BMW in its 7 Series luxury line for the 2016 model year.

You can step out of your car and park it remotely in a tight space, controlling your car from a key fob that includes an LCD screen.

Another first in a luxury car is gesture control to operate the radio. The 7 Series uses a 3D sensor to detect hand movements so you can swipe the air to raise or lower volume or accept or reject incoming calls. Drivers will also get the option to pair a gesture with a specific function.

BMW is also promising a “new level of voice control,” in a teaser video on the new 7 Series.

The vehicle is also getting new driver assist features including lane departure warning with active side collision protection and rear collision prevention.

No specifics yet on pricing and delivery.
