Google finally launched Android Auto, joining Apple’s CarPlay in offering consumers an easy way to connect their phones to a car radio while viewing a simple and familiar interface on the radio.
We are now waiting on Pioneer to provide further details.
Android Auto offers simple radio access to navigation, music and phone/messaging when an Android phone is plugged into to the radio. Users get voice control and steering wheel control over key functions and see a familiar Android interface on the car radio screen that also provides touch screen controls.
The three new compatible Pioneer NEX radios are the AVIC-8100NEX,and AVIC-7100NEX navigation/radios and AVH-4100NEX AV/radio. They are also compatible with Apple Car Play and they all have 7-inch touchscreens.
We’ll provide more details as they become available.
