Fortin, a key supplier of remote start data modules, is offering remote transmitters for remote start systems for the first time.
Additionally, the company has resumed shipping its EVO-ONE—a remote start bypass module under new agreements with distributors. (See later in this story)
Fortin began shipping this month two FM-based remote transmitters with 3,000 foot range including a one way model and a two way version. The models FTX642W (two-way) and FTX641W (one-way) both have 4-buttons. Other transmitters will be offered in the future.
Fortin is currently offering a kit with two FTX642W 2-way transmitters at $149 that includes a long range antenna and cables.
Regarding its EVO-ONE, Fortin took the unusual step in December of withdrawing the new remote start product from the market, because it was being discounted on the Internet.
The company has resumed shipping of the EVO-ONE, after renegotiating agreements with distributors, some of whom are offering the product under their own brand name.
Under the new distributor agreements, the EVO-ONE cannot be sold by dealers on eBay at lower prices, it said.
The EVO-ONE was released in September, allowing an easy remote start install in “high current” or non-pushbutton start vehicles. It includes the remote start and bypass module in one box and works with all EVO-ALL T-harnesses for simple installation.
As soon as it was released last September, it was discounted on eBay so the company pulled sales until recently.
Now it is being offered through MRI Distributors and through Crimestopper (now part of Rockford). Metra also supplies it under its Axxess brand. Fortin said it will also offer the product through other distributors in the future.
