Mike Northup formerly of Auto Page (purchased by Varad) has moved to Magnadyne, which is reintroducing its Silencer remote start security brand under Northup’s direction.
Much of the new Silencer line will ship over the next two weeks offering flexible remote start/security products that work with both Fortin and ADS data modules.
Silencer was an active Magnadyne brand until the mid-2000s and was sold exclusively to car dealerships. It is now relaunched as an aftermarket brand for retailers and distributors.

A smartphone-controlled remote start system is also planned, as well as a line of accessories including Fortin bypass modules.
The new line also includes window mount antennae that have a bright LED and valet override switch for ease of installation. Solutions are offered for both high current and low current (push button) vehicles.
Northup, head of sales and marketing, is currently setting up retail accounts and says the brand offers a protected line with solid margins that is not over-distributed.
Magnadyne is also in the process of hiring sales representatives in some territories.
The top of the line Silencer remote start is the SL-72 with a one-mile range. It has a two-way remote transceiver and a slim one-way remote. It uses a patented 2-way window mount antenna with Blue LEDs and valet/override to help deter theft when the LEDs are flashing.
It has programmable current / voltage sensing, tachometer sensing or timer start modes. It is also compatible with gas or diesel engines and is programmable for timed start and cold temperature automatic start modes as well as programmable run times.
And it has a dedicated defrost output, plus self-polarizing door lock output, dual zone shock sensor with warn away and programmable car-jacking feature. Suggested retail price is $399.95.
Magnadyne will offer later this year or early next year an interface for the SL-72 that allows it to be controlled by a smartphone.
At the entry level of the new Silencer line is an SL-2 alarm system with keyless entry that can be programmed to be just a keyless entry module. The entry level remote start is the SL-5 with keyless entry outputs at $199 suggested retail price.
