Industry Vet Launches Car Kit Company

CORRECTED:  (See below) Rich DeSclafani, who has held positions in 12 volt manufacturing and retail for 18 years, is importing a line of European car kits under a new company called Car Integration Systems, based in Palm Beach, FL.

He is selling directly to dealers with a line of 30 kits to start, which include backup cameras, video-in-motion and AV interfaces for many car models up to 10 years old.  The product has a 3 year warranty, and DeSclafani promises 24/7 tech support.

The video-in-motion interface uses one device that supports over 100 cars through the addition of interchangeable plug and play harnesses. It allows  features like DVD and navigation destination entry to be operated by the passenger while the vehicle is in motion. Called the UNI-VIM, it also adds a rear camera input on select vehicles like Land Rover/Range Rover and Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep and others.

Backup cameras work with multiple car makes including 2014 model year Porsches (that come with navigation), BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and some Volkswagen models.

Car Integration Systems works with a  stocking warehouse  based in Chicago to expedite shipping around the country. The name of the company is Techline Sales and it provides sales support for the product line also at 630-393-2300.

Pricing is mid-tier, said DeSclafani., who says he focuses on personal tech support. “If you call me at 10 at night and say ‘I have a Porsche in here, can you help me,’ I’ll help.”  DeSclafani, who won a 2012 Manufacturer’s Sales Rep of the Year Award from Mobile Electronics magazine, added,  “I never tell a dealer no. That’s why I won the award.”
