Alpine released this photo of CarPlay Tuesday and confirmed reports that it will offer aftermarket CarPlay products later this year. No date or pricing was specified.
Alpine said, “The Alpine audio/video system will seamlessly incorporate CarPlay to extend your iPhone experience to the vehicle. Users can easily control CarPlay from Alpine’s large, in-dash touch screen, or just activate Siri to enjoy CarPlay without distraction. CarPlay enables drivers to seamlessly make calls, use Maps, access music or receive and send messages. Using a Lighting connector, CarPlay works with iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5 running the latest version of iOS 7.”
Pioneer also announced Tuesday it will offer an update for its NEX radios to make them compatible with CarPlay early this summer.
