One of the lowest cost car radios to include HDMI and MHL, the technology that lets you display video from a smartphone onto a car radio, is available from Power Acoustik.

The Power Acoustik PD620HB, at an estimated street price of $219, lets you connect to many late model smartphones and tablets to display video and content on the deck’s 6.2 inch screen.  The double DIN unit requires an optional HDMI cable from Power Acoustik (at about $29 to $49), which then unlocks 1080P video and audio from the smartphones.  The cable also charges the phone or tablet.

“Now instead of having to buy a $2,000 stereo, you now can get all your music, movies and navigation from the phone,” said a spokesman.

The PD260HB works with iPhone 5, 4 and 4s, iPad2 and iPad3 devices as well as Samsung Galaxy 2, 3, 4 and select 5- and 11-pin Android devices.

The radio offers DVD playback with front USB input and Bluetooth with audio streaming.  It has a backup camera input with trigger and works with a Farenheit steering wheel control module.  It is also available under sister brands Soundstream and Farenheit.

Also a single DIN Power Acoustik version with a 7-inch motorized screen is available at an estimated street price of $229.

Another new HDMI MHL device from Power Acoustik is a wireless dongle. The $69.95 AC-100 is a wireless HDMI/MHL receiver that plugs into the USB jack on a device and then wirelessly connects to a phone to stream video from the phone.  It may be used in the car to stream video to a headrest monitor and then taken in the house to stream Netflix to a widescreen TV.

On some phones, fully mirroring of any app or video is enabled.   Again, it delivers full 1080p video and it is compatible with  DLNA, Miracast, AirPlay and AllShare devices.  It ships in approximately 30 days.

Also new from Power Acoustik is the Crypt, one of the smallest mini amps for car audio, measuring about 3 by 6 inches.  It is available in two configuration including 2 x 400 watts into 4 ohms and 1 x 550 watts into 2 ohms.  Estimated retail price is approximately $139.  It is expected to ship within about 30 days.
