Metra introduced at CES this month a tablet and smartphone kit that works with single DIN car radios.
The kit comes in two parts: part one is a sleeve that fits over a tablet or phone that adds a “kickstand.” Part two is a single DIN insert for the dashboard with a slot. The kickstand slides into the slot and locks in place to mount your tablet or phone on the dash and charge it.
The kit also has an aux in jack.
The Metra kit is available in models for for the iPad mini, Samsung tablets, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.
It is expected to ship February 1.
Metra also announced a new radio replacement dash kit for the Smart Fortwo. The 99-8720B (single DIN) and 95-8720B (double DIN) kits work in Smart Fortwo vehicles from 2011 and up.
