iSimple is introducing at CES the TranzIt PORT, which adds a USB port for audio and smartphone charging to any car radio with an FM receiver.
It is iSimple’s first TranzIt device to provide a universal USB connection so it can work with all iPhones including iPhone 5 series phones and Android phones (with a 30-pin cable or a Lightning cable or micro USB cable).
It has a digital-to-analog converter and 2.4 amp charging with overcharge protection circuits.
iSimple recommends professional installation of the device, but an experienced do-it-yourselfer can install the TranzIt PORT in a half hour.
To use, the driver plugs in the connecting cable into the USB port that mounts on the dash (or you can just plug in a USB stick with music on it). Then he tunes the radio to a pre-set frequency and then presses play on their device to start playing music or to launch Internet radio like Pandora. Music then begins streaming audio through the car’s stereo system, while also charging the battery of the device.
Shipping of the TranzIt PORT is in Q1 at $119.95 suggested retail price.
