Here’s some data on the top ranked brands in car audio so far this year from The NPD Group.
Pioneer has a 30 percent share of the overall in-dash car radio market (all types including audio-only, AV and navigation, in dollar sales to consumers), followed by Kenwood at 25 percent and JVC Mobile 14 percent. In fourth place is Sony with a 13 percent share and Alpine at 10 percent.
In amplifiers, Alpine leads in share with 23 percent of the segment, followed by JL Audio at 17 percent and Kicker at 13 percent. Both Kenwood and Rockford Fosgate have an 11 percent share of the car audio amplifier market.
We asked for speaker share, but NPD keeps its statistics close the vest.
The numbers above reflect sales from January through August of this year.

I’m sure we’d see Alpine make a huge jump in share if brick were compared to Amazon.
