All three of the stores above use modern, upscale merchandising. But they set a different tone for their customers by one simple feature: paint.

Before you click away, there’s a lesson here that goes beyond paint.   First, these are the “in” colors that you’ll find now at kiosks in Verizon or a Samsung store within a store, or Apple Stores, says Marcel Newell of retail display maker Avidworx.

Gray creates a mood of “luxury and it has a  high end feel,” he says.  The “medium” color shown above creates a general welcoming environment with earth tones.

White creates a light, bright, airy mood.  It’s a trending color right now in retail merchandising.

“Lot’s of people talk to us and say, ‘I don’t want my stores to look like everyone else’s,’” he said. “The point of updating the store is to create the proper shopping experience. If they can create a place where people feel comfortable and emotionally engaged, then they can sell value rather than be forced to sell price.”

  1. What Marcel is saying here is absolutely right. You can google search the “meaning of colors” and you will see exactly what the meaning of colors are and the impact they have on you. Personally I went the earth tone effect incorporating, wood, metal and stone when I created my facility. People would walk in and say, Wow! This place looks expensive!
    And I was! 🙂
