Garmin announced Tuesday that it has been selected by Daimler AG to provide navigation for future Mercedes-Benz models globally. Garmin navigation will be fully integrated in Mercedes-Benz infotainment systems over the next four years.
The system will work with the in-dash display and also a second “at a glance display” located behind the steering wheel. Drivers may view key information such as cues for the next turn on this second display. Garmin’s map and navigation information will also appear on the traditional in-dash display.
The Mercedes-Benz infotainment systems may also be controlled through a rotary controller or by voice command.
Garmin’s GPS data will also help guide Mercedes’ Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) systems that automatically assist the driver in emergency or difficult driving situations.
