The new Samsung Galaxy S4 unveiled Thursday night, includes an S Voice Drive feature that automatically switches on when the phone links to the car with Bluetooth.
The phone’s interface moves to larger fonts and it includes a personal voice assistant like Apple’s SIRI to help check your messages (with text to voice), and answer them, find music, make calls and check the weather, said Samsung. The S Voice drive is connected to the phone’s built-in navigation app.
When a message comes in, the driver may opt to hear it or skip it or replay it.
The S4 has some other features that may be useful in the car. Its touch screen works when wearing gloves. And it uses Air Gesture control where you can swipe above the screen without touching it.
The S4, to be available in late April by some reports, has a full 5-inch screen while it’s thinner and lighter than the S3. The screen is full HD Super AMOLED with 441 pixels per inch. The S4 will come with an 8 core processor in some market, and a quad core in others.
One new unusual feature is the S4 lets you operate the front and rear cameras at the same time so you include yourself in the photos you take.
It also has some health tracking features for monitoring activity and calories burned and also sleep patterns.
And you can tilt the phone forward or back to scroll up or down. Plus when you look away from the phone, it pauses and then it resumes when you look back at the screen.
The 4G LTE phone runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. It has a removable 2,600mAh battery and includes Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi as well as IR LED remote for controlling the TV. It will be available in black and white, but no pricing was announced.
