Directed is launching a program for car dealerships, which gives them the ability to add many high tech telematics features to any car.
With a MyAutomate app dealers can stay in touch with their customers to determine when the car needs service or maintenance. The app can also work with a stolen vehicle recovery system and it can lock and unlock doors from a phone. It can remote start the car and pop the trunk from the phone (with some additional hardware). There’s also another level of service for GPS tracking and teen alerts.
The MyAutomate app and hardware can be rolled into the cost of the car.
It essentially allows car dealers to add telematics options to new cars in packages that can be customized by the dealers, with different levels of features.
Directed’s James Turner said, “We have developed an infrastructure to create a custom app with the dealerships’ personal touch …” The app can also help improve customer retention for the dealers.
MyAutomate works with Android phones and the iPhone.
It won a CES Innovations award and will be offered in Q1 2013.
