At the top of CNET’s latest list of top Android phones is the Samsung Galaxy S3, matching the HTC One X,  for all around top features and utility.

For car audio enthusiasts, the Galaxy S3 offers the potential for a MirrorLink interface with car radios, although Samsung has yet to offer the update necessary to unlock the feature in the U.S. market.  If Samsung rises to the occasion this month in the next few weeks,  the S3 would still be the first leading U.S. smartphone with MirrorLink capability.

Number 2 on CNET’s list is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which has a tablet-like feel,  using a stylus for some features.  It’s  followed by the HTC DNA with a quad core processor and true 1080p screen.

Actually CNET says of the DNA “With quad-core power, 4G LTE, a lovely 5-inch screen, and a stunning design, the $199.99 HTC Droid DNA is currently Verizon’s best Android deal.”

With a slightly different list of favorites is Computerworld’s recent Top 3 Android picks.  It chose the Nexus 4 as the top Android phone for its “pure, unadulterated Android without the needless bloat.” The phone, sold directly by Google and produced by LG is also updated frequently.

Number 2 on Computerworld’s list is the HTC One X+, for its top rated display and camera, fast processor, and good battery life (available on AT&T).

Finally, the number 3 phone in Computerworld’s ranking is the Motorola’s Droid Razr Maxx HD for its “built to last” body and strong battery life (32 hours of mixed use).

For a third opinion, Engadget says the One X “is quite possibly our favorite smartphone of 2012.”
