Directed is offering its first “plug and play” installation kit for remote starters that can work with Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The new XpressSTART module connects a remote starter to a Mercedes’ data bus through plug-in connectors, without the need for cutting wires.
Mercedes vehicles have long posed a difficulty for such data bus kits, and while some kits are on the market, this is Directed’s first simple solution.
“Mercedes has long been the Rubik’s cube of our decade, it uses very complex encryption at in the data key immobilizer system which makes remote starting the car incredibly complex,” said Directed VP Business Development Peter Fazi.
The new XpressSTART kits support all current Mercedes-Benz car models and most older models. It also support SmartStart so Mercedes owners may remote start the car from a smartphone.
The new Mercedes solutions can also be used to upgrade the range of the remote start and they are compatible with Directed’s Passive Keyless Entry device.
