Pioneer has partially updated the AppRadio to work with Apple’s new iOS6 running on an older iPhone.
Last week, Pioneer noted that some of its radios no longer allowed pinch and zoom and users could no longer launch apps from the radio.
On Tuesday, Pioneer said pinch and zoom has been restored via an updated Pioneer app now in the App Store (AppRadio 1.8.1).
Also, some of the compatible third party apps have been updated so they can be launched from the radio. These include MotionX GPS Drive (navigation), INRIX (traffic updates), StreamS HiFi and Extra Mile.
Pioneer will continue to post updates on the remaining compatible apps with its AppRadio and Advanced App Mode car radios.
U.S. Pioneer models impacted include the SPH-DA100, SPH-DA02, SPH-DA01, AVIC-Z140BH, AVIC-X940BT, and AVH-P8400BH.
Pioneer’s AppRadio essentially turns your car into a speaker dock for your phone, allowing you to control selected apps from the radio. The newest version, AppRadio 2, is compatible with many Android phones.
