Accessory supplier Scosche showed its first aftermarket car CD/radio (at least its first in recent years) at KnowledgeFest this week. The radio works with an app that permits a smartphone to remote control the radio.

Scosche radioAn Android phone, iPhone or iPod touch can become a full remote control for the CD/receiver.  The system also allows any passenger in the car to play music loaded onto his phone through the car head unit.

The deck is a single DIN model with a large volume knob and a front USB jack.  It has built-in Bluetooth for handsfree calling and an SD card slot and front aux in.

Users must download an app to get the smartphone remote control capability.

Scosche says it has no plans to become a full line head unit supplier.

The company is tentatively targeting a price of $129 to $149 for the CD/radio.  A shipping date has yet to be announced.
